Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen.

The http://www.dunes-expedition.com/starts today. After the reception at the port of Tangier, your tour will begin by crossing the mountains of the Rif to reach Chefchaouen. the blue city which in Berber means “horn”. It is a beautiful place with the contrast of white houses arranged in different planes on the highlighted green space irrigated by the river. dinner and overnight will be in a hotel or riad.

 

 

 


 

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez.

After breakfast, you will depart for Fez. En route, you will visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Then you will continue to Meknes to visit the old Medina of this imperial city surrounded by ramparts. Finally, you will continue to the spiritual city of Fez. overnight and accommodation at a hotel or riad in Fez.

 

 

 

 


 

Day 3: Fez (guided city tour)

Fez MedinaThe day will be devoted to visiting Fez, the oldest imperial city in Morocco. It was founded in the 8th century by Moulay Idriss II. You will explore the Medina, the Ennajarine Fountain, the Medersas Attarine, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, the Elkaraouyine Mosque, and the new medina of Fes Jdid. check-in at the hotel or riad.

 

 

 

 


 

Day 4: Fez – Merzouga.

A long day awaits you today. You will depart for the desert village of Merzouga via Azrou. You will make stops in the cedar forests to see the monkeys and also in the Ziz gorges. You will cross the Tizi N Talghemt pass to arrive in Midelt where you have lunch. At the end of the afternoon, you will arrive at the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, you can safely walk through the desert and witness the sunset. the night will be at your hostel.

 

 

 


 

Day 5: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga.

Today is an opportunity to discover the Merzouga desert: you will start at the southern Khamlia Gnawa village to enjoy live Gnawa music. Then you will explore the desert lake with its different species of birds. You will continue to the vast palm grove of Tafilalet to visit the town of Rissani. It is a city founded by the Alaouite dynasty and the former capital of the Alawite sultans. It is an economic center of the region. After a special lunch with a Berber pizza, you will return to the desert to go on camel back to the bivouac to spend the night in the nomad tent in the middle of the dunes.

 

 


 

Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges.

Wake up early in the morning to be able to take a camel ride and take photos of the exceptional sunrise over the peaks of the dunes. After your arrival at the hotel, you will depart for the Dades gorges through the many Berber villages and kasbahs. you will visit the Todra Gorges where you can go for a walk. In the afternoon, you will continue to the Dades Valley. overnight at the hotel in the Dades Gorges.

 

 

 


 

Day 7: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate.

The journey continues today towards the city of Ouarzazate through the road of the Thousand Kasbahs and off-road to the Valley of Roses. You will have time to visit the nomads living in caves. You will continue to the Skoura palm grove to visit Kasbah Amridil. In Ouarzazate, you will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the spice souk. The night will be in a typical riad.

 

 

 


 

Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben-Haddou – Marrakech – Essaouira.

After breakfast, you will leave for the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. You will visit this ancient Berber village, where many films have been shot such as Obelix, Gladiator… It is a UNESCO site declared World Heritage in 1987. After the visit, you will continue to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas mountains through the Tichka pass at an altitude of 2,260 m. You will stop at places with wonderful panoramic views to take photos. Lunch will be in Marrakech. Finally, you will continue to the city of Essaouira. The night will be in a riad in the old medina.

 

 

 


 

Day 9: Essaouira – Marrakech.

Today you will visit the old town of Essaouira accompanied by a local guide. You will also enjoy its beach. Around 3 p.m., you will return to Marrakech, the night will be in a hotel or a Riad.

 

 

 

 


 

Day 10: Marrakech

The day will be devoted to visiting the pearl of southern Morocco. You will discover the Bahia palaces, Badii palaces, the Saadian tombs, the Menara basin, and many other hidden treasures. Lunch will be in one of the best traditional restaurants in the old medina. After lunch, you will continue with the visit to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el Fna square. The latter comes alive at night with local storytellers, artists, and a mouth-watering barbecue. The night will be in your riad.

 

 

 


 

11: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat – Asilah.

You will leave very early in the morning for Casablanca. Visit of the Hassan II mosque then continues to Asilah on the coastal road through Rabat and Larach. Overnight at a hotel in Asilah.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Day 12: Asilah – Tangier
