Day 1: Marrakesh – Ait ben Haddou UNESCO Site– Ouarzazate

Today, our 6 Days Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech begins from Marrakech to Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m). We’ll get to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Where the famous Kasbah stands. The last Berber chief El Glaoui built the Kasbah in the 19th century. The Kasbah is recognized as a UNESCO heritage site, and where were turned many films such as the Momy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia…Then we continue to Ouarzazate, “the Africa Hollywood”, where you have the opportunity to visit and see many props used in movies. You will visit Taourirt Kasbah and souk of spices. The dinner and accommodation will be in a Riad.


Day 2: Ouarzazate – Tamagroute – Zagora

Tamgroute potteryYou will leave Ouarzazate to Zagora through the Dara valley; we will visit Kasbahs and the palm. Lunch will be in Zagora. After, we’ll head southwards to the well-known Tamegrout where we will visit the Islamic bookshop, the oldest in the area, which served as a school and the source of Islamic education. Our visit continues to the hand-made pottery works where you will see men baking the clay to make different pots and kitchen dishes, and making a fire to heat them at high temperatures. We will return back to Zagora. Dinner and overnight will be in a Riad.


Day 3: Zagora – Alnif – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will leave Zagora to Merzouga by track through Tizi-N-tfilalt. Lunch will be in M’harech Oasis near Tafraoute village. After l, you will continue to Rissani; the ancient desert town and the economic center of the area (you may visit the market and Moulay Ali Cherif Tomb). Then you continue to Merzouga. The night will be at an inn near Erg Chebbi dunes.


Day 4: Merzouga

Today we get to learn more about the life of the Nomads in our off-road excursion to the breathtaking Erg Chebbi. We will visit the Nomad families who migrate and live in tents. We will also attend an African folkloric music dance performance in Khamlia village. You can walk in a desert oasis, it’s an opportunity to learn about the irrigation system of the area. Late afternoon, you will mount camels to pass the night in the bivouac under a traditional Berber tent.


Day 5: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todgha gorges – Dades Gorges

You will return to your hotel by camel for breakfast and a shower. After, we will depart from Dades Gorges via the dramatic Todra Gorges (in Todra gorges, you may have a walk at Todra Gorges along the river). But before, we stop to relish the panoramic views of the Berber villages overlooking the valley. Lunch will be at a restaurant under 600 feet high red cliff of the gorges where many rock climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Later, we continued to Boulemane Dades. Check-in at an inn (family guest house).


Day 6: Dades Gorges – Marrakech

A scenic drive awaits you as you drive through Kalaat Magouna and the thousand Kasbah roads. The town is famous for its roses and rose products, every year a rose festival is held in May. We continue our private tour to Sekoura where we stop at the well-preserved Kasbah Ameridil, beautifully surrounded by palm plantations. You continue to Ouarzazate, the “Africa Hollywood”, where you have the opportunity to visit and see many props used in movies. Then, you will visit Taourirt Kasbah and the souk of epics. After, we reached Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the UNESCO heritage site, where many films such as The Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia… After the visit of the Kasbah, we will penetrate the High Atlas Mt at an elevation of 7269 feet, enjoying one of the most scenic drives in Morocco to arrive at Marrakech. Check-in at your riad.
