Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga
The circuit of the 3 Days Fes Merzouga desert tour will start today from the city of Fez and we will head to the dunes of Merzouga. We cross the Middle Atlas through the city of Ifrane. This city is known as “the Switzerland of Africa”. We will pass through the city of Azrou, “the rock”, where we will stop to admire its forest and see the monkeys in freedom. We continue the road through the Tizi Talghemt pass at an altitude of 1,907 meters where the relief is impressive.
We will arrive in Errachidia crossing the gorges of Ziz enjoying the landscapes of the Tafilalet massif. We will continue our way through the palm grove of Erfoud towards the desert of Merzouga by track to reach the famous sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon arrival, you will have free time to enjoy the calm of the desert and see the change in color of the dunes according to the sun’s rays. Dinner and overnight at the hotel at the foot of the dunes of Merzouga.
Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga (the tour of the dunes)
Today will be devoted to enjoying the most spectacular part of the Eastern Sahara. We cross the black desert in 4 × 4 to visit nomadic villages to discover their way of life. We will also visit oases that have an irrigation system of Roman origin. Afterward, we will also visit the famous Gnawa village “Khamlia”.
The latter are descendants of sub-Saharan countries. We will enjoy their amazing folk music. In the evening we will return to the hotel to set off on the back of camels which will take you to a luxury bivouac in the middle of the dunes where you will spend the night. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Fez
After returning from the bivouac with the camels, we will leave for Rissani. It is the first imperial city of Morocco and the economic center of the region. In this city, we will be able to admire its particular market where the nomadic tribes of the desert come to get supplies.
Very curious to see if it’s a donkey parking lot. We will enjoy the panoramic views on the Erfoud road, after crossing the Tizi-n-Talghomt pass, we will arrive in Midelt where we will have lunch. Then, we will leave for the city of Fes through the cedar forests. We will arrive at the cultural capital of Morocco at the end of the evening. (end of our services of 3 Days Fes Merzouga).
